Our cabins are nestled in a quiet wooded setting halfway between downtown Abbeville and downtown Eufaula—just about 1 mile from public boat-ramp access at Thomas Mill Landing on Lake Eufaula.

Each cabin comes fully equipped: a kitchenette (mini-fridge, microwave, coffee pot, coffee cups, dish soap, and towels), two full size beds with pillows and linens, a private bathroom, heating/air-conditioning, Smart TV & WiFi, and a parking spot suitable for a truck and a boat trailer (with a charging outlet).

Yes, we’re pet-friendly! There’s a small pet fee, and we ask that pets be leashed outdoors, not left unattended inside, and cleaned up after.

Where are Backwater Cabins located?

Backwater Cabins are located in Henry County, Alabama, with an Abbeville address — but we’re actually situated almost exactly halfway between downtown Abbeville and downtown Eufaula. This gives guests quick access to restaurants, shops, and local attractions in both towns. 

We are on County road 97 just north of where it merges with County Road 93.

We’re also just 1 mile from Thomas Mill Landing and Bakers Landings, popular and convenient public boat ramps on Lake Eufaula (Walter F. George Reservoir). Guests can enjoy fast, easy access to the lake while staying in a peaceful, wooded setting perfect for relaxing, fishing, or exploring the outdoors.

Where is the nearest store?

There is now a Dollar General less than a quarter mile from the cabins. This makes grabbing last minute supplies very convenient while still feeling like you are vacationing in the middle of nowhere! 

The next closest store is located 1 mile north next to the boat ramps. This would be Bakers landing convenience store where they have a deli and all the fixings of a traditional convenience store including gas! 

We are also approximately 15 minutes from the Walmart located on 431 in Eufaula. 

Are there restaurants nearby?

There are 4 “restaurants” within an 8 minute drive of the cabins. 2 of the 4 are delis located inside of convenience stores, to include Bakers landing and Emmas Place. Both of them have fantastic deli food, breakfast and the chili dogs at Emma’s are to die for! 

The silo is a walk up eatery built into an old silo just a few minutes down the road and across the street from highland park. They offer items such as burgers, chicken salad sandwiches, homemade desserts and much more. 

Todds Place is a full service restaurant just a few miles north of us that offers a variety of foods and has the option to pull your boat right up to their dock!

If fast food is more your speed, there are a few options located near the Walmart just 15 minutes away including Zaxbys, Hardee’s and tacobell.  We are also approximately 15-20 minutes to both downtown Eufaula and downtown Abbeville which both offer a variety of restaurants serving anything from steak dinners and Cajun food to Pizza and Mexican food. 

Is there anywhere to cook at the cabins since there aren’t stoves in them? 

Yes! While we do not have stoves in our cabins, We do offer a grilling pavilion that has several grills available for anyone to use at any time. While we do not provide charcoal, everything else you need is located at the pavilion. We just ask that everyone do their part and clean after your selves to help maintain this area for all guests.

How far are the cabins from Lake Eufaula?

The cabins are quite close to the lake, with Thomas Mill Landing only 1 mile away. We are also less than a 10 minute drive to highland park and hardridge creek.  This makes it easy to launch a boat, go fishing, or enjoy time by the water without long drives or crowds.

How do I make a reservation?

You can book directly through our website at BackwaterCabins.com. Select your cabin, choose your dates, and book instantly. For special requests or questions, feel free to reach out.

What is your cancellation policy?

Any reservation that is canceled at least 72 hours in advance will receive a 90% refund. Once you are within the 72 hour window, you will not receive a refund for bookings (special exemptions many be considered for reservations that are booked less than 72 hours in advance. 

Is there parking available for boats and trailers?

Yes—each cabin offers space for 1 vehicle and 1 boat trailer. We make it easy for fishermen and lake-goers to bring all their gear. There is also an outlet facing the parking space for easy boat battery charging. 

How do I know which cabin is where? 

Our cabins are in ascending order from the entrance toward the pavilion at the back and all odd cabins are on the left with the even cabins on the right. They are in order as follows when pulling in to the cabins: Left: 131, 143, 149, 155, 161, 167.

Right: 138, 150, 160, 166, Office.
